ΤIn 1821 the citizens were looking forward to their freedom. One night some shepherds saw a light pointing at the village. The night after the light appeared again. When one of them went closer to the lighting point, he found a picture of Agia Aikaterini. That fact was taken as a sign from God. Thus, the citizens built a church in that point where they placed the picture. At the same time three monks arrived, Gavriil, Grigorios, Iakovos and Damianos. They decided to live in the village and with the help of nun Magdalini, they built the Monastery of Agia Aikaterini. In order to build the monastery, the best constructors of Pramanda village arrived.
